Knight Studios Announces Move to ARRI® Ecosystem to include the ARRI Mini LF, ARRI Lighting, and ARRI Signature Prime Lenses

Las Vegas, NV – June 29, 2023 – Knight Studios, an emerging visionary in film production known for its stunning cinematography and emotionally resonant storytelling, today announced that it has moved to the ARRI® ecosystem after investing in the ARRI® Mini LF digital cinema camera and ARRI® Signature Prime lenses. After careful consideration, Knight Studios made the decision to transition to the ARRI® ecosystem to achieve the highest possible image quality, performance, and reliability. ARRI® has long been regarded as the standard in Hollywood for over 100 years, and we are confident that this move will enable us to continue to create more exceptional and visually stunning content for our audiences.

Melissa Knight, Director of Photography and Executive Producer for Knight Studios said, “We’re thrilled to have joined the ARRI® family and to be working with such a respected and innovative company in the film industry. From the very first moment we reached out to ARRI®, we were struck by the warmth and collegial welcome we received. The entire team at ARRI® has been incredibly supportive and helpful as we transition away from RED® to the ARRI® ecosystem, and we are delighted at the prospect of collaborating with them on future projects. We are confident that our partnership with ARRI® will elevate our productions to new heights and enable us to create even more compelling and visually stunning content for our audiences. The ARRI® cameras are simply better in every way, from the sensor to the color science.”

Alissa Knight, Writer, Director, and Executive Producer at Knight Studios said,” We have been using RED digital cinema cameras for years. However, when we had the opportunity to move to ARRI® cameras, we were blown away by the undisputed image quality supported by a spirit of cooperation and mutual support by the ARRI® team. Here at Knight Studios, we’re a relationship-driven studio and place significant weight in the relationships we have with the brands we work with and their commitment to supporting our creative vision. We believe that building strong partnerships with the brands we work with is more important than the technology itself and key to delivering the best possible results for our audiences. Some companies are simply transactional and don’t understand the importance consumers place in their relationship with brands, something that ARRI understood. We are confident that this move will allow us to create even more captivating and visually stunning films in the future.”

In an interview with ARRI®, Greig Frasier, Cinematographer on the set of Dune commented, “Using the ALEXA LF gives me a greater dimensionality, a combination of a bigger field of view, and a shallower depth of field. I easily could push the ALEXA LF to 2000 ASA with no visible noise but a very pleasant texture. The LF has made possible what I thought was previously impossible with large-format photography. The freedom it allows me as a DP, to move the camera in whatever way I feel is best, is unbeatable.” In a similar interview with ARRI®, Cinematographer Roger Deakins on the set of 1917 comments “the image that the Mini LF and the Signature Primes produce seems, to me, more like what my eyes see than anything else I have experienced so far."

This quote highlights the benefits Knight Studios will enjoy moving to the Alexa Mini LF in its productions. The camera's large sensor and wide dynamic range will allow them to capture stunning detail in both bright and low-light conditions for audiences worldwide that is also supported on its OTT streaming service, Knight TV+, now available on Apple TV, Roku, LG, Samsung, Google TV, Android, and iOS.

There are many reasons why ARRI® cameras are preferred by Hollywood. First, they offer the best image quality available. ARRI® cameras use large-format sensors that capture more light than smaller sensors, resulting in sharper images with more detail. Second, ARRI® cameras are incredibly reliable. They’re built to withstand the rigors of filmmaking, and they rarely break down. Third, ARRI® cameras are very versatile. They can be used for a wide variety of projects, from small independent films to large-scale blockbusters.

Knight commented, “We are confident that the ARRI® Mini LF and ARRI® Signature Prime lenses will allow us to create even more visually stunning films as we move into this next chapter of Knight Studios for years to come.”
